The 3 R's of Sustainability
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle — these are not competing rules, they are the foundation of harmonious coexistence between the individual, society and the environment.
Everything we consume stays on the planet.
There is no such thing as "throwing away". The 3 R's Policy emerged after the Earth Conference (1992) and the 5th European Program for Environment and Development (1993), with the aim of reconciling human development with nature preservation.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are efficient ways of contributing to the conscious consumption. They are not rival behaviors — they are complementary. The real secret to practical sustainability is applying the three pillars together.
Reduce
Practices that reduce the consumption of goods and services to reduce the generation of waste and waste. It also means investing in durable products that need to be changed less frequently.
Reuse
Avoid waste when using the same product several times, in a creative and functional way, extending its useful life. The reused object gains a new function in its current state, without undergoing reprocessing.
Recycle
Transform waste into new products, modifying the material for a new function — saving natural resources, avoiding waste and rescuing materials that would otherwise be discarded in the environment.
The challenge is not generation. It is proper disposal.
While reduction and conscious consumption are fantastic goals, the most critical bottleneck is in final destination. According to ABREMA, only in 2023 did Brazil inappropriately discard:
Changing this statistic is engineering.
Bionergia offers technology that corrects the final destination route and returns waste to the cycle as a renewable input.
